In October 2024, the Bihar government, acknowledging the
persistent prevalence of child marriage in the state, received robust support
from NGOs such as the 'Just Rights for Children Alliance' (JRCA).  

According to Nutan Charcha this coalition is
committed to eliminating child marriage by 2030, aligning with the Supreme
Court's directive that personal laws cannot obstruct the enforcement of the
Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA). JRCA's coordinator, Ravi Kant,
emphasized the alliance's dedication to assisting state governments in this
mission, highlighting that despite existing measures, Bihar remains among the
top five states with high incidences of child marriage.
